Job summary Our client a major in the gas and oil industry requires a Senior Process Safety Engineer for a position based in Leatherhead, UK. Please note you must be eligible to work in the UK to be considered for this position.
Main Duties
* Provide design safety co-ordination, support and advice to the Project facilities team.
* Ensure that all process safety elements of the project are conducted in alignment with the clients project processes (MPcp) and other HSSE Standards, Practices and guidelines.
* Develop and execute the project Process Safety & Risk Plan.
* Support project key decision making and development of safety technical reports.
* Identify appropriate resources to provide process safety related expertise and guidance to the Project and ensure the appropriate quality of design safety studies (e.g. EIA, HAZID, HAZOP, Risk Assessments, QRA, MAR).
* Coordinate consultants providing specialist safety analysis.
* Manage the design safety assurance process, including implementation of Project HSSE Review (PHSSER) assessments for the project.
* Ensure that an audit trail can be provided on any significant design safety issue by appropriate monitoring and tracking system.
* Monitoring performance and delivery of the design contractor safety engineering group.
* Ensure contractor process safety systems are compliant and aligned with the clients Group, Function and project requirements.
* Ensure process safety input to project stage gate reviews, Decision Support Packages (DSP's), tender documents, assessment of bid submissions and contract requirements, and that detailed Contractors' HSE plans are in place following contract award.
* Ensure the facilities team understand the intent of Inherently Safer Design opportunities and how to implement in the design.
* Interface with Operations and Construction to ensure requirements are captured in the facilities safety design.
Requirements
* Engineering degree
* Extensive experience working with an Operator or design contractor in the petrochemical industry
* Strong communication skills at all levels
* Experience of HAZOP, LOPA and QRA techniques
* Experience of applying hazard analysis data to support facilities safeguard performance specifications
Preferred
* Worked as a safety engineer in the development of fire and gas detection and protection design
* Knowledge of IEC61511 requirements and development of process requirements specifications for safety instrumented systems
* Facilities operation or commissioning experience
